Ron Malanga - Head of Percussion

Energized by teaching, passionate about curricular merit, and committed to excellence, Ron Malanga received his BME (Hons) in 1993.

For the past 6 years he's been Head of Music at Horizon School, establishing high musicianship standards school-wide in innovative ways.

Previously he taught at Dubai American Academy, and was concurrently the GEMS Learning Network Leader for Music. In that capacity he led professional development sessions on ways to improve music curricula in light of recent scientific findings on how the musical mind works.

He maintains that leadership mindset, as evidenced by multiple presentations at international conferences, a recent invitation to guest lecture at the New University of Lisbon, and the 60,000+ views of his music education blog.

A practicing musician, Mr Malanga recently conducted an opera with the NSO Chamber Orchestra. Timpanist for the NSO, he also sings in the Dubai Chamber Choir.

He looks forward with enthusiasm to working with AYO again.
